The New Green Room (see old posts to see how far it came!)

We can't see the floor yet, but the walls sure look great!

Man, I Love those Kids!

Only when I found out I was pregnant was I able to say good bye to Bowie High School at the end of the fall semester and begin the move to Houston. My students gave me an incredible send-off that I will never forget. sniff sniff. I really miss Bowie and the awesome people in that place every day.

Zilker Kite Festival in Austin, March 4, 2007

This is the most beautiful outdoor event in Austin if it falls on a perfect, windy, sunny spring day such as the one we got this year. I was a ham for the camera because I was excited about my belly starting to pop out. This is the end of week 18, four and a half months! That was about the week it seemed we could tell Cashew was really on his or her way.

Por Fin! Por Fin!

After finishing Phase I (I use that term very officially, of course) of our remodeling project, it was finally time to MOVE IN! Some of us, especially Ted, had been waiting for this day since he started working in Houston in October! Miracle of miracles, thanks to our incredible team work and the packing expertise in Austin from sisters like Tricia, we actually got everything ready in time for the highly anticipated move day last Saturday, March 24th. The guys from On the Spot Movers that we hired to help us arrived at 8:50 a.m. and did not leave until after 8:15 that night. Pat and Larry were a huge help that day, too. Words were even used to describe the big day such as "smooth". Words were also used the following day such as, "Oh, I can't get up. I'm going to die." No move would be real without exhaustion at the end, right? All in all, it was a success.

The Staining

If you ever need hardwoods refinished in Houston, we highly recommend these guys, The Garcia Brothers. I found out that they even did the floors in our house on Dryden where I grew up!

Jesus, in the red, white and blue tee was the leader. He was the man! He had the patience of Job as we changed our minds time after time on the colors of this room. Need I explain that I use the word "we" loosely. Of course I mean ME! You're also seeing "before" shots of the sanded-down floors.
